Be a part of the global movement known as Twestival! Hundreds of cities around the world are holding events on the same weekend in September, including Greenville, SC. Volunteers are needed to organize the event. There will be a tweet-up on Monday, August 24 at 7pm at Coffee and Crema on Pleasantburg Drive. That’s next to the new Fresh Market. Bring your ideas and your friends!

Want to nominate a non-profit to be the recipient of the money raised at Greenville Twestival? Do it quickly! Nominations close Friday at 5pm. Here are the qualifications:

• Must be a registered non-profit
• Must be based in Greenville or the Upstate of South Carolina
• Submit a paragraph explaining why the organization exists
• Include specific details of what $1,000 would accomplish for the charity.

Please send your nominations to alison (at) alisonstorm (dot) com. Shortly after nominations close at 5pm on Friday the public will be invited to vote for their charity of choice.

About a year ago a group of London Twitter users got together to raise money for the homeless and the “Twestival” was born. A few months later the event turned global, with cities around the world holding events to raise money for a single cause, Charity: Water. The events raised more than $250,000– enough to build 55 wells servicing more than 17,000 people in Uganda, Ethiopia and India. Wow!

Now the focus has turned to helping local charities. Dozens of cities around the world (including Greenville, SC!) are holding events on the same weekend in September (the 10-13 to be exact) to benefit charities nominated and chosen by their community.

Nominate a Charity: Right now we are accepting nominations for the charity that will be the recipient of the money raised by Twestival Greenville. Email your nominations to alison@alisonstorm.com. Tell us briefly why that charity should be selected and specifically what $1,000 or $2,000 would accomplish.

Share Your Ideas! Our event is in the very early planning stages. It could be a concert, a silent auction, or a city-wide water balloon fight. At this point it’s up in the air. If you have a great idea please let us know!

Donate Something! Soon you’ll be able to donate to the chosen charity. But in the meantime if you have something you’d like to donate for the auction, or if you’d like to donate your services as a designer, organizer or cake baker we’d love to hear from you!
